After being owned by Newfoundlands since 1992, this is the beginning of 'Starboard Newfoundlands'. I am their friend, caretaker, and trainer. We work and play together, support and succeed together.

My Newfoundlands and I successfully compete in advanced Obedience, but we also work Draft from Fall through Winter into Spring. In the summer we work, train, and Test Water Rescue exercises. Then at different times throughout the year we also show Conformation.

It is important for my dogs to distinguish themselves as Working Newfoundlands, fitting the Breed Standard, with COMPLETE health Clearances. Health is my number one priority, but the whole picture also includes solid temperament, and physical structure that allows them to accomplish what they were originally bred to do. I believe it is very important to select healthy Newfoundlands to breed, as it is just as important to select specific dogs that compliment one another structurally and all around to try and make each generation better than the last. I do not believe in breeding dogs just to breed, for money, convenience, or because they both look healthy. The whole dog is looked at, to evaluate what they can or can not add to the gene pool.

I am breeding to produce a working/show quality Newfoundland for myself, in hopes that others will appreciate and benefit from the time and work I have invested.
